8 Things we Learned from the new Hogwarts Legacy Gameplay Reveal
By: Mr Constantine
Starting off with the first thing that we learned from the new Hogwarts Legacy gameplay reveal, is that there would be ancient magic. In Hogwarts Legacy, you will play as a character that is different compared to the other students at Hogwarts, and your character got to where they are through strange circumstances. Because your character is different compared to others, you get access to unique magical abilities. And these magical abilities can be used in combat. Some of these abilities you unlock by upgrading your wand, going to your classes and progressing through the story. You also get to access ancient magic and some unique spells that were not really explored in the lore.

Diving into the second thing that we learned, it's that Hogwarts Legacy is going for a brand new narrative. Since the story takes place a couple centuries before Harry Potter enters Hogwarts, the story is a lot different and explores aspects that weren't really fleshed out in the books. Based on the gameplay reveal, it seems that the story is going for something fresh and new, even for long-time fans of the Harry Potter film or novel series.

Heading to the next thing at number 3, it's that goblins are the main enemy. Just like every other story or video game out there that has a narrative, there has to be a villain or a big bad. And that is the Goblin rebellion in Hogwarts Legacy. The Goblins have an uneasy alliance with the wizards and the relations between Goblins and Wizards deteriorate as the story progresses. Everything ends in conflict and it's up to your character to make a difference. Will the Goblins prevail, or will they be stopped? Anyways, they are the main enemies in Hogwarts Legacy and you will likely spend most of the time in combat, fighting goblins

Speaking about combat, moving on to the fourth thing that we learned is that combat is all about shaking up spells. For you to be good in combat, you have to utilize your spells together and effectively. Hogwarts Legacy allows you to use different spell combinations and be experimental with combat, as there are many combinations that are far more effective than using just one spell alone. Now there isn't much melee combat since your main weapon is a wand and you'll be using it to cast incantations. So pretty much, everything is ranged combat. Based on the gameplay reveal, the combat mechanics are very smooth, responsive and well animated. In addition, it's also full of options and the spells that you have access to might depend on potions, the classes you learn from, and wand upgrades.
---
Now during combat, you also have to know your enemies weaknesses, and the fifth thing that we learned from the gameplay reveal is that each enemy has unique weaknesses. For every single opponent that you encounter in Hogwarts Legacy, they have their own weakness and can be defeated faster with the right spells or technique. We can compare this to another game called Doom Eternal, where memorizing your enemies weaknesses is the goal of being effective in combat. With the addition of spell combinations, all you need to do is to find the right combination that works effectively when fighting a certain enemy.

Of course, in order to find enemies in Hogwarts Legacy, you will have to traverse the huge open world. And to do that quickly, the developers showcased broom traversal, where you'll be able to use a broom to fly around the huge map. This is the sixth thing we learned from Hogwarts Legacy's gameplay reveal. As I mentioned before, the open-world that is featured in the game is extremely large and there are a lot of areas that you can explore. So the cevelopers gave us another traversal option rather than walking, which is done by broom flight. The map is full of a bunch of merchants, side quests and other things scattered around it, so in order to get there fast, you can use the broom. Plus, it looks really fun.

Next up at number 7, we learned that Hogwarts Legacy would feature mind-blowing advanced character creation. When the gameplay reveal video starts, we can see that you'll be thrown into a character creation system, and it is very impressive. There are a lot of options to choose from, ranging from faces, hairstyles, blemishes, beauty marks and many more. It seems that the developers of Hogwarts Legacy really put a lot of effort into letting the player customize how their character would look. The character creation system may not be as complex as other games out there like Fallout 4, but it's pretty good and a lot of people didn't expect the game to have a cracaarter creation system that was in-depth.
---
And finally at number 8, we learned that Hogwarts Legacy would feature a companion system. Similar to other RPG games like the Fallout series and similar to the crew members in the Mass Effect games, you'll be able to get companions in Hogwarts Legacy. Now how do you get companions in the game? Well, students in Hogwarts can be befriended and when the bond level is high enough, they'll become your companion. Now despite Hogwarts Legacy being a single player game, it's still pretty nice to have companions as you won't feel so lonely on your journey. After all, it's a win-win situation, companions are completely optional for players that don't want any help in combat or someone to bring along on their journey.
