By now, a lot of you guys are definitely aware that Epic Games is known for providing all sorts of free games at regular intervals, and now they're back again with a new game that was just made free on their platform. That game is Ark survival evolved, which will be free throughout September 22 until the 29th. So you should definitely add this game to your epic games library, but a question some of you may have is whether or not you should play it. To help you out, we’re going to be covering the game's narrative, gameplay, art style and even sound design.

But first things first, if you are not familiar with this game, or have rarely ever heard of it, Ark survival evolved is a game in the ark franchise, which is something that has redefined the way players look at survival games. Ark survival evolved is a game where players are placed on an estranged Island where they need to survive by using up the resources available to them. This might seem like a typical Survival game, but there are unique elements such as dinosaurs, wild beasts and secrets within the play area. This game definitely stands out from others, and it plans to get a sequel in the near future. The sequel announcement is probably why the game is made free on Epic this week, because the developers might want more players to have an opportunity to experience the first game before the second one comes out.

Anyways, diving to the first aspect of Ark survival evolved, we have its narrative. Now Ark is a game that isn't exactly designed to have a single-player story. When you dive into the game, you can instantly see that you are playing as a character who is stranded, freezing and starving on the unforgiving shores of a mysterious island called ark. Your goal is to use your skills to survive. But that's all you'll get when it comes to the story. The game does offer a single-player story though, which goes out to show how much effort the developers put into it. But it would sometimes just involve a few boss levels, and can be pretty grindy at times. However, people tend to praise this gamemode for its attempts to explain the ark island and deepen the lore of the game.

Another important aspect that we have to take a look at when considering playing a game, is gameplay mechanics. Ark survival evolved has decent gameplay mechanics depending on how you see it. When the game first launched, the combat didn't feel exactly right, because there were a lot of glitches and bugs that broke immersion for the player. Now of course, some of these bugs and glitches have been fixed, but there are some that still linger. However, if you're able to look past it, Ark can be a game that has amazing gameplay mechanics that will really surprise you. There are a ton of unique weapons in the game which have special abilities, and dinosaurs that you can ride with each and every one of them having their own unique traits.
But what really shines in Ark survival evolved, is its multiplayer game mode. Playing the game in multiplayer is really enjoyable, especially if you play with your friends. The game can often be exciting, thrilling and even hilarious when you decide to play with your pals. It feels very similar to the game Rust, but has a far more unique world and environment that you can explore.

Speaking about world and environments, we're going to be taking a look at the game's graphics and art style. All in all, when it comes to Ark survival evolved graphics and visual uniqueness, the game is able to be different and stand out from other survival games out there. Ark survival evolved into such a diverse world that is filled with all kinds of beasts, dinosaurs and entities. The atmosphere and environments also look amazing, with different biomes, vegetation, landmarks and seasonal changes. In addition, you can even build your own base in this game, which also makes multiplayer a lot more fun than it already is. You can find player built locations, and even build your own.

And finally, we have sound design. We're just going to briefly cover this by saying that Ark has pretty good sound design that immerses you in the game world. The Ambiance really lets you sink in with the atmosphere, and all the beasts and dinosaurs have distinct noises which you can use to detect what you're about to face. All in all, if you're into survival games that have a unique setting and are letting you do whatever you want like base building, then this is definitely the game for you. Ark does have its flaws, but it can easily be looked past and you will likely enjoy every moment of playing the game.
